Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

Well, actually he already visited us yesterday!
I had just put my little one to bed when I heard Christmas songs being played outside. So , I had a look and there was Santa in his motorised sleigh roling past our house :) Not quite something I was expecting to see!

O Tannenbaum

In England, it's customary to get the tree way before Christmas Eve. We learned this a few years ago when we decided to get a Christmas tree; the shops were full of left over trees nobody wanted but, on the other hand, they were all free (because who would leave tree shopping until Christmas Eve- just us Finns!)! So, for the last couple of years we've gone tree shopping in the beginning of December.

Things that make Christmas feel like Christmas

Hyancints! I love the smell, and they are something I have to have every Christmas. This year I might just go to my garden and bring one in as they've already started growing due to the mild weather we've had recently.

Winter Wonderland

A little over a year ago we enjoyed lovely views like this. Unfortunately, all the snow melted a day or two before Christmas!

Christmas Flowers

I spotted this blossoming cherry tree a couple of days ago here in London. It was quite a strange sight amongst all the Christmas decorations.... We've had a very mild autumn so far with an exception of a brief cold snap in October, so if this becomes a norm with the global warming, blossoming cherry trees might become a familiar sight around Christmas time.

Land's End

Land's End is the extreme westerly point on the mainland of England. In the distance, you can also see Longships and the Longships lighthouse, which  is the name given to a group of rocky islets situated approximately 114 miles (2 km) west of Land's End.

As you might have noticed from the previous photographs, the weather wasn't the greatest during our holiday...

Mousehole

I've decided to stick to one theme every month, so this month shall be dedicated to Cornwall, where we holidayed this summer. This picture was taken in a lovely little fishing village called Mousehole.

Le Mont Saint-Michel

In 2009 we visited Le Mont Saint-Michel in France, the counterpart of Michael's Mount in Cornwall, and off the two, it's much grander!

St Michael's Mount

St Michael's Mount (Cornish: Karrek Loos y'n Koos meaning "grey rock in the woods") is a tidal island located 366 m (400 yd) off the Mount's Bay coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is a civil parish and is united with the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water.

A boy meets a cat.

Yesterday we visited a friend and enjoyed the lovely Indian summer morning in her garden. Today the temperature is expected to go as high as 29 degrees of Celsius, that's somewhere around 84.2 Fahrenheit!
